Entanglement
Commissioned for Art on the GreenWay
and presented by the Inner West Council
for the GreenWay Edge Festival 2019
Made with locally found street throw-outs and incidental detritus, this temporary installation was suspended along the Hawthorne Canal in Sydney's GreenWay. In a grove of Casuarina trees—once a safe refuge for children while their mothers collected bush foods—this space, along with the birds, invites festival visitors for an intimate entanglement.
“By 2050, it is predicted there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.” About our "plastics produced, research shows only approximately 9% are recycled, 12% incinerated, and 79% accumulates in landfills or the natural environment.” Earthwatch Institute 2019
